Dynatrol® Viscosity Systems

Dynatrol® Viscosity Systems provide fast, precise viscosity measurement for use on a wide variety of process industry applications: plastics, chemicals, inks, paper, oils, paints, shampoos, adhesives, coatings, foods, etc. The Dynatrol viscometer utilizes a unique vibratory principle to provide continuous measurement at on-line process conditions. This eliminates the need for sampling and provides exceptional accuracy. Your Dynatrol Viscosity Measurement System begins with the proper selection of a probe and digital viscosity converter for your application.

The Viscosity Probe utilizes a vibrating rod immersed in the process media. The design is without recesses, packing or wearing parts. The Dynatrol Viscosity Probe is available in stainless steel and other corrosion-resistant materials. It can operate in ranges up to 100,000 centipoise. It has a standard pressure rating of 1000 PSI and a standard temperature rating of 300°F. Higher pressure and temperature ratings are available to meet specific needs and to satisfy a wide range of requirements. With no moving parts it is virtually wear-free - ensuring a long operating life.

The Viscosity Stand Alone package provides a solution where an in-line viscometer is not practical. Its ½ " NPT inlet and outlet process connections can be valve isolated from the process stream to facilitate cleaning procedures, calibration, etc. This stand-alone system maintains the same standard ratings as our in-line system.

The Digital Viscosity Converter The Dynatrol Digital Converter Series 3000 (Model STD) was designed for use with all Dynatrol Viscosity Systems. Using microcontroller technology, the digital converter accepts information from a Dynatrol® Viscosity probe and calculates the viscosity of the liquid under test. The Series 3000 Converter mathematically computes and displays the viscosity in standard units.

Dynatrol® Density Systems

Dynatrol® Density Systems are designed for the measurement of density in familiar units such as specific gravity, API gravity, Baumé, BRIX°, as well as being able to measure the percent solids or percent concentration of a liquid or slurry.

Dynatrol Density Systems achieve exceptional accuracy over a wide range of process changes in ambient temperature, pressure, viscosity or flow

Dynatrol products are highly respected and relied upon in a variety of industries. Our products are well-proven and extremely versatile as process tools.

Principle of Operation
The media under test flows through the internal U-tube portion of the Dynatrol cell. The ½” tubing is driven into mechanical vibration by the electrically excited drive coil. As the density or specific gravity of the media increases or decreases, so does the effective mass of the U-tube, changing the frequency of vibration.

The pick-up end, consisting of an armature and coil arrangement, senses the vibration and provides an output that is a function of the density, specific gravity or percent solids of the process media.

Advantages
All components have been constructed for a long operating-life. Dynatrol Cells are rugged, accurate & easily installed. They can be installed across a main line transfer pump or a small re-circulating pump may also be used so that a small stream of the process media circulates through the U-tube. additionally, they can be installed across an orifice or other pressure drop point.

ROVISYS OPC

The useful life of otherwise functional legacy process control systems and other proprietary microprocessor-based devices can be extended if they are able to communicate with other devices, newer controls and your business systems.

Building on our staffs' involvement with legacy systems and extensive knowledge of current technologies, protocols and systems, we offer OPC compliant interfaces for ABB Bailey INFI 90 and NETWORK 90, OSIsoft PI and VMS systems.

Our OPC and DDE servers enable easy data exchange among non-standard systems and OPC clients. RoviSys OPC servers run in the Microsoft Windows environment and are easy to configure and use. The OPC Client for OpenVMS runs on VMS systems.

Custom control interfaces and drivers

In addition to current servers and those under development, RoviSys can create OPC interfaces and drivers that extend the life of your controls and automation equipment investment. Ask us if the interface tool you need is already in the works.

Ready-to-go solutions and remedies for a not-always-ideal world

The ideal solution for any challenge would be a readily available and easily installed product that instantly overcomes all your obstacles for a low price. In process manufacturing, most issues require more involved solutions.

Still, when we see a common challenge or develop a solution that will work for many, we do what it takes to turn it into a product. RoviSys has developed other products. Some were by contract for others to market, and some were for us. The results to date include:

  • FeneVision, offered by RoviSys spin-off company FeneTech and now considered the leading manufacturing and business system for window and door makers
  • Grandview, the projects management and collaboration initially developed for our won client work
  • OPC and legacy servers and clients.
  • A host of private label products or components our clients market directly with their equipment.
  • Applications clients use in-house to improve the speed, versatility and productivity of their operations.

For more information on our custom product development and software engineering services, go to the pages on our product development and software engineering business unit.

Development has always been a key part of our client services. Many of our employees, including our founder and a number of first hires, come from product development backgrounds that include concept, design, engineering, marketing and support of large-scale (and now legacy) control systems.

A beneficial convergence of capabilities

If you’re looking for a vendor who can create complete solutions rather than just gives you pieces and parts, RoviSys provides a convergence of valuable skills: controls, integration, development and software engineering all under one roof—deployed in tightly-coordinated teams.

In short, we solve problems. If we don’t offer a pre-existing solution, we can create one for you or tell you where you might find what you are looking for.

You can add multiple driver "plug-ins" all within a single OPC server without worrying about learning new communication protocols or spending time understanding new applications. The list of drivers includes PLC and device drivers, database and application specific drivers, and a user-configurable driver for serial and Ethernet data acquisition.

Kepware strives to develop the industries best communications for automation. To achieve this, Kepware has developed relationships with our Hardware Partners, working together to specify, develop test and maintain our product to their standards. We call these our "Vendor Integrated Protocols" and they have become the industry standards. Hardware companies choose Kepware as their primary communications offering. In many cases they resell Kepware communications as their own products. With others, Kepware is their primary recommendation.

There are two types of vendor programs, and in both cases, Kepware is the final owner and long term supporter of any technology the end user will rely on. In each case the vendor agrees to work with Kepware to ensure customers have access to the best possible communications technology available on the market. Our partnerships are highlighted below with a "Vendor Endorsed" designation.
Vendor Endorsed Protocol (VEP) – These drivers are developed, managed and supported by Kepware and are either recommended or resold by our Hardware Partners. Kepware manages the entire process with the support of the Vendor.
